Akosombo National Service Personnel Fetes Children

Children love parties and what absolutely makes the trick about parties for them is not just the food nor drinks but a good genre of the latest music anyone can find.

The savouring 2013 Christmas party for Volta River Authority's (VRA) impacted communities was organized for over 1,000 children within the Senchi Resettlement Community of the Authority by year 2013 batch of National Service Personnel posted to the Authority's Corporate Communications Unit at Akosombo.

This year's party was aimed at promoting good-will and co-operation between the Authority and communities impacted by its operations. The party was characterized by games such as musical chairs, 'pick and act', and a dancing competition.

"The Authority is proud to be supporting its National Service Personnel to appreciate the need to give back to society and support the needy as they learn to become responsible adults", Information/Publicity Officer at the Corporate Communications Unit in Akosombo, Mrs Rhoda Arthur, said. On behalf of the Authority, she wished the children the best of the season and urged them to strive to become good citizens of Ghana.

Making presentations to the children who emerged winners at the end of the games, the Akosombo Area Transport Officer Mr Isaac Doe, encouraged the children to be studious to ensure that they grow to support the development of their communities and the country. He also lauded the effort of the Service Personnel and reiterated the need for members of Staff to support the event.

Ms. Holarli Torkonoo, a National Service Person, speaking on behalf of her colleagues, said that by reason of their affiliation with the Corporate Communications Unit of the Authority, they had learnt the need to support the Authority's programme of building and strengthening relations with communities impacted by its operations.

They were grateful to Management, Staff and all who supported this laudable cause.
