Akuse International School Hosts Book Fair

A book fair to inculcate the habit of reading into pupils has been organized at the Akuse International School (AIS) by The Amazing Grace Reading and Life-Changing Foundation (AGRA-LIFE Foundation), an NGO founded by Evangelist Mrs D.K. Duah.

The fair, organized in partnership with Books for Africa in the U.S.A, showcased books for kindergarten, nursery, primary, junior high, senior high and tertiary level students.

To whip up interest in the fair, books were sold at affordable prices, with some books selling for as low as 50 Ghana Pesewas (2 US Cents).

Recounting the history of the fair, Evangelist Mrs. Grace Duah highlighted some challenges which had been faced in previous years. According to her, the Foundation had difficulty organizing pupils from different public schools for the event. Even so, to ensure the success of this year's fair, the Foundation extended invitation to schools close to the host institution. She expressed satisfaction about the success of the fair, and reiterated the need for children to inculcate the habit of reading.

In other developments, the Headmaster of AIS, Mr. Reuben Kugblenu, expressed satisfaction about the impact the fair had had on participants, and cited, as example, some students who had purchased books with their own pocket money. He intimated the importance of the fair to parents of the participants. He said the fair had relieved parents of travelling to other cities in search of books for their wards.

Evangelist Mrs. Duah, after the fair, presented books to AIS in appreciation for playing host to the event. The gesture was also the Foundation's way of giving back to society.
