STATEMENT OF CONDOLENCE

With heavy hearts, the Volta River Authority (VRA) mourns the tragic loss of precious lives as a result of the Ghana Air Force Z9 helicopter crash.

The sad event has claimed the lives of distinguished public servants and gallant security personnel.

We mourn the demise of the Honourable Minister for Defence, Dr. Edward Kofi Omane Boamah, the Honourable Minister for Environment, Science, and Technology, Dr. Ibrahim Murtala Muhammed, Alhaji Muniru Mohammed, Acting Deputy National Security Coordinator; Dr. Samuel Sarpong, Former Ashanti regional Minister and Vice Chairman of the NDC; and Mr. Samuel Aboagye, former parliamentary candidate.

We extend our deepest condolences to the Ghana Armed Forces for the loss of the three gallant officers in the line of duty- Squadron Leader Peter Anala, Flying Officer Manaen Twum Ampadu, and Sergeant Ernest Addo.

The nation will never forget their commitment and sacrifice as our heavy hearts mourn their loss.

VRA stands in solidarity with the bereaved families, His Excellency the President of the Republic, John Dramani Mahama and the Government of Ghana, the Armed Forces, and the country at this heavy and solemn hour.

As we grieve at this national tragedy, we will draw from the tenacity and dedicated service of these patriots as a reminder of the need to be fully committed to the call to national duty.

May their souls rest in perfect peace.
