‘Team Akuse’ Wins Maiden Chief's Cup

The sports contingents paraded by team Akuse for the maiden Chief Executive’s Cup (Chief’s Cup) made their ‘host and win’ dream a reality when the team was crowned the overall winner of the competition.

The team won in many disciplines with their athletes emerging overall best players in football and volleyball, among others.

The icing on the cake was when the men’s football team defeated their rivals from Accra by a lone goal, courtesy a brilliant free kick by the skipper of the side, Prince Frank Asare a.k.a Zola in the second half of the final match.

Zola received loud plaudits and commendation from the spectators including the Chief Executive, Mr. Emmanuel Antwi-Darkwa who praised him for exhibiting fortitude and resilience after picking up an injury in their opening game against Tema/Kpone which subsequently ruled him out of that game.

Ahead of the games, Director, Procurement, Mr. Jacob Fosu-Kyei, Chairman of the Organising Committee noted that the Fun Games was to scout and put together a formidable team from VRA for the impending inter-utility Energy Games this month.
