We are Focused on Executing Uncompleted Projects - Chief Executive Assures

The Chief Executive of the Volta River Authority (VRA) Ing. Kirk Koffi has assured of his administration's commitment to ensuring the completion of unfinished projects initiated by his predecessor, Mr. Kweku Andoh Awotwi. He gave this assurance at the Chief Executive's End-of-year get-together organized in honour of former Chief Executives, Deputies Chief Executives and Directors who had served the VRA in various capacities.

Notable among the dignitaries who were present at the event were Mr. Kweku Andoh Awotwi; immediate past Chief Executive, Mr. Erasmus K. Kalitsi, a former Chief Executive and Mr. J.O. Okpoti, a former DCE among others.

The high-profile event which is aimed at fostering and entrenching unique relations between the Authority and its past Executive body is the last in the series of end-of-year activities organized by the Chief Executive to extend warm courtesies to his colleagues and express gratitude to predecessors for their support.

Ing. Kirk Koffi noted that, his administration was fully equipped to brace the inevitable challenges that will hamper the smooth running of the Authority and would work hard to ensure adequate flow of gas to power the thermal facilities. He said as part of efforts to ensure the availability of adequate power in the country, a contract has been awarded for the commencement of work on the T4 Plant at the Aboadze Thermal Complex.

He indicated that plans were far-fetched to ensure annual add-ons of between 150-200 Mega Watts (MW) of power to the existing energy mix through renewable energy.

The Chief Executive said Management had put in place strategic measures to add on more power before the end of 2014, to sustain the 70 per cent availability of power in the country. He indicated that this was to be done with or without the support of central government or Independent Power Producers (IPPs).

He informed the Executives that, in this regard, he has implored all staff to support this agenda by working hand-in-hand with Management to deliver on these mandates; the Retrofitting of the Kpong Hydroelectric Plant, the construction of Kpone Thermal Power Plant (KTPP) and the restoration of the T3 Plant among others.
