NOTICE OF ENTRY UPON LAND
FOR THE PURPOSE OF CONSTRUCTING AND OPERATING ELECTRICAL WORKS

 



 


CONSTRUCTION OF 161KV KUMASI - OBUASI
TRANSMISSION REINFORCEMENT PROJECT

By virtue of section 12 of the Volta River Development Act 0f 1961, (Act 46) and section 15 of the Electricity Corporation Decree NLCD 12, 1967), notice is hereby given that the Chief Executive of the Volta River Authority or any person or persons authorised by him will after one week from the date of the publication and from time to time, thereafter enter upon the lands described in the schedule and the map hereto or as near thereto as may be for the purpose of the construction of the 161 KV KUMASI – OBUASI TRANSMISSION REINFORCEMENT PROJECT

Copies of the maps showing the proposed transmission line route may be seen during working hours at the following offices as the case may be:

  • Regional Co-ordinating Councils in Kumasi in the Ashanti Region;
  • Atwima-Kwanwoma, Amansie East, Amansie Central, Adansi North and the Obuasi Municipal; and
  • Real Estate Department, VRA, Heritage Towers , Accra .

Any person(s) having any property(ies) on the said lands described in the schedule which may be adversely affected by the exercise of the above powers is hereby required, within six (6) months from the date of this notice, to send to the Chief Executive, Volta River Authority, P. O. Box MB 77, Accra, a statement in writing signed by him/her or on his/her behalf by a lawful representative showing the particulars of his/her property including evidence thereof of the injury likely to be suffered.

SCHEDULE  

All that piece of land measuring 15 meters on either side of the proposed 161 kv Transmission line running between the Kwanwoma (approximately 7 km from Kumasi) to Obuasi, all in the Ashanti Region over an approximate distance of 50.7 kilometers, more or less containing an approximate area of 1,521,000 m 2 (i.e. 30m x 50,700 m). The proposed transmission line is expected to affect the following districts with their respective communities; ATWIMA KWANWOMA - Kwanwoma, Duopem, Adum Afrancho, Konkori, Sefwi; AMANSIE EAST - Senfi, Ofoase Kokoben, Anwia Nkwanta, Patase, Kyekyewere, Achiase; AMANSIE CENTRAL - Afoako, Asikasu, Abedwum, Kwapia; ADANSI NORTH - Wioso, Adansi, Kyekyewere and the OBUASI MUNICIPAL, among others. The project will be carried out within a narrow corridor of 30m that will span the districts and communities named above. The existing line around Anwia Nkwanta, Kyekyewere, Asanso Patase and Kwapia will be decommissioned and double circuit towers constructed to minimise the social impacts on the project.
