Members of the Board of the Volta River Authority

The Board of Directors, established by an Act of Parliament (Act 46) consists of nine Members appointed by the President of the Republic of Ghana. It has oversight responsibility over the operations of the Authority.

The present Board was inaugurated on February 23, 2003 . The academic and professional expertise of the Members are as follows:




Osei Asamoa Bonsu,
Board Chairman
Chartered Accountant

Mr. Osei Asamoa Bonsu
is a Chartered Accountant. He practices from his accounting firm, Asamoa Bonsu & Co.in Accra.


Ing. Owura K. Sarfo
Member

Chief Executive, VRA

Ing. Owura K. Sarfo is the Chief Executive of the Volta River Authority



Samuel Kwesi Asare
Member
Managing Consultant.

Ing. Samuel K. Asare, is the Managing Consultant of Asare, Tsibu & Partners, a Consulting Engineers Firm involved in Power Utility Planning, Design and Construction Projects. Before going into private practice, Ing. Asare was the Director of Engineering at the Volta River Authority. He is a member of the Bui Hydro Electric Dam Development Committee and a Fellow of the Ghana Institution of Engineers.



Carlien Bou-Chedid

Ag. Executive Secretary, GhIE

Ing. (Mrs.) Carlien Bou-Chedid
is currently the Ag. Executive Secretary of the Ghana Institution of Engineers (GhIE). Prior to this, she had worked as a Consulting Engineer with CBC Consult, and also as a Structural Engineer at Architectural & Engineering Services Corp. (AESC), now Architectural & Engineering Services Ltd.


Abraham Kofi Asante

Mr. Abraham Kofi Asante is a skilled business administrator, marketer, economist, teacher, banker, local government practitioner with extensive experience in legislation both
locally and internationally. He was one time the Member of Parliament for Amenfi West District and also served as a Member of the ECOWAS Parliament.


Abena Oduro (Ms.)

Lecturer in Economics

Ms. Abena D. Oduro is presently a Lecturer in Economics at University of Ghana, Legon. She was until then a Research Fellow at the Centre for Policy Analysis (CEPA). Ms. Oduro has a lot of publications, mostly in economics to her name


Alfred Teddy Konu
Member
Registrar and Secretary to University Council, University of Ghana.

Mr. Alfred Teddy Konu is the Registrar of the University of Ghana, and Secretary to the Council of University of Ghana, Legon. He is an administrator by profession and has since 1970, worked with the University of Ghana


Prof. Yaw Sarfo Boafo,
Member

Professor/Diplomat

Prof. Yaw Safo Boafo is a Professor of French and a Diplomat. Previously, he was the Ghana Ambassador to Cote d'Ivoire . He also lectured for several years at the French Department of the University of Cape Coast.


Kwabena T. Obese-Jecty
Member

Chairman, Jo-Nam Oil Platation,

Mr. Kwabena Obese-Jecty is the Chairman of JO-NAM Oil Palm Plantations in the Western Region. He is a Chartered Accountant by profession. Previously, he worked with VALCO and was the Director of Finance & Commerce, a position he occupied until his separation from VALCO, in 2005.
